  1. Growing up in the flattest part of the US near Chicago, I still remember when my jaw dropped at my first glimpse of a real-life mountain at age 10. Since then, I've chased mountains from the Andes to the Himalayas - one of the highlights so far was reaching Everest Base Camp this past summer. Being deprived of remarkable topography for so many years has made me appreciate it even more.
  2. I was an aspiring architect in a past life, and for me, gluing together tiny pieces of wood to make scale models was surefire path to losing my sanity. But I still believe well-crafted design can disrupt categories, change thinking, and save lives.
  3. After mastering the art of squat toilets and the Beijing subway system while in China for 4 months, nothing phases me.
  4. I love the window seat. I think some of the best education you can get is through travel and that it can change the way you look at things. Science says it also makes you more creative. See below for some favorite shots I've taken along the way.
